Pepsi seems to be dumping all this spare snow we have in the Falls Rd. water run off. Not sure if the EPA etc has deemed this ok but Pepsi seems to be cool with it. More pics from the Snowpocalypse 2010 here.

Blizzard 09: Going “stir crazy”
Stir crazy is a phrase that dates to 1908 according to the Oxford English Dictionary[1] and the online Etymology Dictionary. Used among inmates in prison, it referred to a prisoner who became mentally unbalanced because of prolonged incarceration. It is based upon the slang stir (1851) to mean prison.
It is now used to refer to anyone that becomes restless from being stuck in one place too long, with a similar meaning to cabin fever.
Things I did today during the storm:
- Scavenged all food items from our fridge/cabinets and put them into a crock pot. Created something similar to chili or soup or gumbo.
- Watched 6 hours of “Really Big Things” on Science Channel.
- Downloaded torrent for Bergensbanen in HD – 22Gig HD train ride video still transferring.
- Looked up some sites for our Trip to Europe next year: check out Euro-backpacker.
- Haggled with a contractor to paint a house I am rehabbing. Save $300.
- Drank some Dale’s Pale Ale (yum).
- Read everything man has ever written on the Internet.
- Learned what a Tetra Pak container was (Thank you “How It’s Made”).
- Cleaned the cat box… ugggh.
- This blog post.
FML – good thing is that Baltimore will be back to normal in a few days and I am pretty sure we will still have a Ravens game tomorrow.

Sprint goes live with WiMAX in downtown Baltimore today
“In an apparent effort to make good on its claim of having WiMAX rolling in Baltimore this month, Sprint is reportedly going live with the service in the downtown area today. There’s no indication of when it’ll spread XOHM throughout Charm City, but we’re hearing that prices will start at $10 for a 24-hour unlimited pass and $35 for monthly service. Best of all, there won’t be any contracts necessarily attached, and WiMAX-friendly laptop cards will supposedly start at around $45. For any locals able to actually find one of these so-called aircards and hop on this elusive XOHM network today, be sure and let us know how it goes.”
I spend a majority of my time working at home or in coffee shops or connected via either wifi or my home network. Baltimore has a huge selection of open wifi hot spots all over the downtown area. Believe Wireless provides a great wireless service that is at reasonable data rates that you can pick up damn near anywhere in the city. It is almost hard to find a place in downtown Harm city (What?!) without a way to connect. Not sure why anyone would go out and shell out additional bucks for the air card and another monthly access plan for a marginal bump in bandwidth. Whatever happened to free wifi for everyone?!!!

Reviews: Bedrock Bar
The Bedrock bar is pretty much right next door to the Hippodrome on 401 W. Baltimore St. It is a huge location with lots of great lighting, a ton of tables, well stocked bar, and decent food. They have a game room downstairs that was pretty chill looking and also the Side Car Lounge for late night food.
The had two bands playing last night, both regulars at the establishment. The first band The Water was an experimental indie rock band that was similar to a Sigur Ros or other nap time trance music. Pretty talented pair of guys. Apparently Bedrock is looking for more acts to fill out the bill.
The specials were $2 Boh’s and $3 Jameson shots. Also Wednesday is $6.99 Wrap night. The Buffalo Chicken wrap was on point.
